The GR:1 has been built to travel off the beaten path. We start with our new sealed bearing 650b wheel set, equipped with the light and supple Teravail Rampart 47mm wide gum wall tires, designed for rough pavement, gravel roads and well beyond. We switch to a lower range 34t front chainring as part of our preferred 1x10 drivetrain for greater climbing ability when the road gets rough and goes upwards. Upgraded SRAM level hydraulic brakes provide consistent, confidence inspiring stopping power, without fading over long descents. We love the feel of the premium Brooks Cambium C17 saddle and Cambium grips, that give all weather control and comfort you can settle into for long days exploring in the saddle.

The Grappler is Surly's dedicated drop-bar trail bike. With mountain geo designed around a comfortable, confident drop-bar hand position, it's lively and responsive on single-track, double-track, and other degraded surfaces. Ready to haul essential gear for all-day dirt rides and quick bikepacking excursions, captured thru-axles front and rear provide ideal stiffness and handling.
